Scarves & Cardis

On one of my trips to H&M with my Christmas gift cards, I purchased some cardigans and a scarf. Well, now I definitely wish I bought more than one scarf. I fell in love with it. I don’t know if it is because I live in Florida that I am just catching onto this trend, or what. We’ve had a few cold fronts lately that I most certainly have not been prepared for. It has been in the 40s and a little over a week ago it got down to the 30s.

I love this floral one because it has a few colors to match with it. It was only about $7 at H&M. I definitely plan on purchasing a few more. I’m thinking some bright colors and maybe a funky print and a basic one.
With my winter wardrobe lacking, I don’t have too many winter boots. These are a great pair of brown leather Steve Maddens that are cute and surprisingly comfy. The grey cardigan is from H&M, as well as the jeans.

I actually turned this scarf into an infinity to make it easier to wrap around and stay. I tied both ends in a knot and wrapped it up. I got the idea from this amazing video that has 25 ways to tie a scarf…who knew!

Do you guys have a favorite scarf?

Shoe Dreams & Confessions

I have a confession to make. I love shoes. I love high heels, pumps, booties, flats and bedazzled gladiator sandals.

Okay, now that that is on the table – my second ridiculous confession. I love heels, yet I don’t wear them. It is hard to not come off sounding super materialistic as I write this. Well hey, it’s a fashion blog. It’s true though.

I’m fairly tall as it is (just over 5’7). I love looking at heels in awe at the store or online. If I actually get the gusto to purchase the pair, I’ll only end up wearing them on special occasion. Even then I usually feel awkward wearing them. I’d end up wearing a pair out with my girlfriends at a bar, then find that I’m towering over all of my friends, and most of the guys. My other confession being that I have a tendency to like shorter men. (Sorry babe, had to call you out for the sake of this post.) Apparently I’m drawn to short, petite women too, because most all of my girlfriends are around 5’3-4 or so and they wear heels just to feel normal next to me, who quickly becomes the amazon woman when wearing a pair of pumps.

Does anyone else have this issue? I know most girls feel more confident and empowered when they slip on a pair, which I usually do at first. Then that quickly fades away when I find that I’m looking down on people as I talk to them. I’m not even that tall! My mother is 5’9 and my father is 6 ft, so I could have been even taller. Don’t get me wrong, I really couldn’t care less what people think of me dating a shorter guy. It’s when I wear heels and it becomes more pronounced and suddenly there’s an elephant in the room (or so I think). It’s not even just that. I could get over that. But my feet could also be compared to Big Foot. I wear a size 9, and my feet are very WIDE. So, even if I find a pair of heels I’m absolutely in love with so much that I don’t care about where I wear them or who I wear them around, they usually don’t fit in the first place. Then, I have the issue of where to wear the shoes. What occasion is appropriate? A date? A party? The bar?

So yes, I usually end up with heels that sit in my closet that I look at and think how beautiful they are. Stupid? Maybe. I like to think of them more as a work of art. I may not rock them as other girls would so well, but I know I can at least admire the print, the quality, and the construction of it.

One particular pair of shoes that I have been coveting so much lately that I had a DREAM about them is this pair of 6 inch wedge booties, Pauline by Shoemint (new website with a collaborative collection by Rachel Bilson, Nicole Chavez and Steve Madden). (Of course, they’re currently sold out.)

6 INCHES! Okay, then I’d definitely feel like an amazon woman. But they are GORGEOUS. I love the color. The suede. The wedge. The corset stitching in the back. Ugh. I even get $25 off my first pair. They’d be perfect to wear for the holidays (Or is 6 in too inappropriate? Probably.) My boyfriend also thinks they are ugly. Which immediately makes me think of ManRepller.com. I may be living in lala land. But, my question for you, readers, is it worth it to purchase a pair that I think are absolutely fantastic, or just print out a picture and hang it on the wall?

Am I crazy, or does anyone else have this problem? I need your help fashion bloggers!

Kudos to you if you read my long post! xoxox

Fall in Florida

The pumpkin spice latte is back at Starbucks, all of the pumpkin goodies are back at Dunkin’ Donuts and the Tampa Bay Rays got the AL Wild Card. Fall is here and I could only be happier if it would just cool down a little here in hot and sticky Florida. I’d love to be able to slip into some skinny jeans, boots and sweaters, but unfortunately all I can bear to wear right now are shorts and sandals still. I thought I’d compile a list of things that I wish I could be wearing (or could buy now!).

I’m loving jewel tones like emerald and burgundy right now.

Hey, I put some new shoes on..

…and suddenly everything is right!

Here is my attempt at a “what I wore” post, but I wish would have had more accessories to go with this outfit. If I was at home and not living out of a suit case, I would have paired this with a large bangle bracelet, a long statement necklace and a brown/tan purse to accentuate the shoes and bring it all together. My best attempt at any accessory was my gold-mirrored Ray Ban aviators 🙂

Shoes & Kitties

Seeking out a new job and working as a PR assistant in Tampa led me to look for a professional wardrobe. Of course I had some professional clothes, but I definitely needed some that were of better quality.

I decided to check out Express. As soon as I walked in the salesman greeted me and asked what I was looking for. I told him I was a post grad looking for some “real world clothes”. He lead me straight to the suit section. I found some great slacks and a blazer. Definitely check out Express if you are looking for some quality, professional clothes for not too bad of a price!

Next I needed some not-so-sky-high heels. I had some gift cards to DSW, so I made a trip there. I found some JS by Jessica Simpson heels that were fabulous, but a little too high. They say that 2 inches is the best height for work. I’m a little over 5’7, so I don’t want tower too high anyways. Then I found some Mix No. 6 heels for just $39.95 and they’re comfortable (well, as comfortable as a heel can be). Then I spotted some oxford-inspired Steve Madden flats. I had to have them too. I just wish I could have gotten them in black and cream, but they didn’t have my size. I ended up with the two-tone tan and cream ones and I’m still very happy with them 🙂

My kitties decided they wanted to participate in my shoe photo shoot – they LOVE shopping bags!

Now I should be prepared for interviews!

Best,
