Ombre Round 2

Greetings, bloggers!

I recently got my hair done again at a different salon, and I am so happy with it!

I got a great recommendation to go to Number 9 Salon in St. Pete. The stylist there most definitely knew her stuff. I finally got the ombre highlights I wanted.

They are natural looking, with just the right amount of blonde. I’ve found my new salon and stylist!

I have been pinning more than blogging as of late, in case you were wondering where I have been. Yes, I have become a Pinterest addict. It got me. Seems to get everyone eventually.

Something that I have been obsessed with recently is hot new nail colors for summer. My favorites right now are Tart Deco and A Crewed Interest by Essie.

I wore these two colors to a wedding, where my boyfriend was a groomsman. It was a beautiful ceremony with black, ivory and purple colors.

[Only mobile phone quality photos were taken, sorry!]

I can’t really come up with a name for the color of my dress – almost a burnt orange/coral color? (Hard to tell with this picture too.) I wore gold accessories and nude colored sandals. I figured I should have somewhat of a tan to rock the gold accents. In my attempt for a bronzed look, I used Jergens Natural Glow & Protect, which smelled pretty good and actually worked really well!
I like the fact that it has SPF in it too. Has anyone else tried a gradual tanner that they loved? Or hated? What are your favorite color trends for summer? Let me know your thoughts!

I’ve had a busy couple of weeks! I started a new job that I absolutely love as a marketing assistant. I’m so excited for the journey I have started in a career that I am passionate about. A few weeks ago, I decided that I wanted to do something different with my hair. I wanted to go more natural and I kept seeing this style everywhere, although I did not know what it was called. Now, after some research, I know that it is balayage, or ombre, highlights. They are highlights that start off darker, then fade into a lighter color, giving you a more natural look. It also saves you money because you don’t have to go get your roots done as often! Okay – apparently I am REALLY late on this trend!

I picked out a few photos that I wanted to base the look of off. I showed it to my hairdresser, and she said she’d try it out although she had never done them before.

Well, instead of looking more natural, she tried to do a brown color on top, with blonde underneath. The brown looks red, really.

I don’t hate it, but it is definitely not what I was expecting. I’d like it to be more like my natural color on top, which is an ashy dirty blonde.

[Found on Pinterest, this is the closest to how I would have wanted the highlights to look]

I also was too afraid to go with a middle part, because I have pretty thin hair. What do you guys think? Balayage highlights, or not? Do you think that it is necessary to have long hair and a middle part to pull off this look? Should I try to get it redone eventually, or just do regular highlights?

1960s Makeup

Edie Sedgwick

Okay, I think it is safe to say that I have been infatuated with the ’60s lately! I wanted to try a bold makeup look, so I decided to try a 1960s look inspired by icons like Twiggy and Edie Sedgwick. It was a challenge for me, especially since I have never tried anything like it before. I needed a little help, so I watched this YouTube tutorial. This girl is great! You should definitely subscribe.

After watching, this is how it turned out for me…

I didn’t have false lashes, which really would have enhanced the look. It would be a great look if you wanted to be a 1960s icon for Halloween, or GoGo girl, Bond girl, etc. 😉 Let me know how it goes if you give the look a try!

Silky Smooth Skin

How often do you moisturize? For me, I do every time I shower. Immediately after drying off, I lather on the lotion all over and it makes my skin feel great, and I feel clean and serene. If I I don’t use lotion right after the shower, I go crazy. My skin feels dry, itchy and thirsty! I’ve used a variety of lotions over the years, and I thought I’d share a few with you.

There are some that smell delicious, some that are creamy and some that are great for irritable skin. I don’t know about you, but I have super sensitive skin. I get razor burn easily, and I always have to make sure I don’t leave cheap earrings in long, otherwise my ears turn red and itchy. I love to indulge with the smell good lotions, but I use sensitive skin lotions on a daily basis to keep my skin calm.

Body butters are great if you feel like you really need to quench your skin’s thirst, but they can feel very heavy.

Lipstick! Sephora Haul

So, here is my first vlog! I’m a little inexperienced with the video thing, so bear with me. I bought the fuchsia-colored lipstick by Sephora mentioned in my last post, a liner and a brow kit.

For some odd reason, the first like 7 seconds of the video is totally messed up, anyone know how to fix it? Lol!

Sephora Perfect Brow Kit $10
Sephora Lipstick in Love Test $12
Sephora Nano Lip liner in Funky Fuchsia  $5
