With the weather getting a little cooler here in Florida, my mother has been begging me and the rest of the family to come out to the barn and see her horse. She has a beautiful, tall, American Saddlebred named Starbucks. My nephew, Viktor, just turned two and we thought it would be a great experience for him to come out to the barn and see all kinds of critters. He got to see the “horsies” and the “moo-moos” just as planned.
The thing that I find fascinating is that Viktor is becoming a bilingual baby. His mother, my step-sister-in-law, (that’s a mouthful!) Stefanie is from Hanover, Germany. She speaks to him in German and my stepbrother speaks to him in English. I am envious at this fact as I have always wanted to learn another language, and for him to grow up knowing two already is a gift!
He has entered his terrible-twos and when he gets excited he has a tendency to start biting. Stefanie had to start yelling “Nicht beissen, Viktor!” to him repeatedly, (no biting) and now he tells my stepfather “Nicht beissen, GraGra” (his version of Grandpa) when he is trying to behave himself in order to receive what he wants.
Okay, I think it is safe to say that I have been infatuated with the ’60s lately! I wanted to try a bold makeup look, so I decided to try a 1960s look inspired by icons like Twiggy and Edie Sedgwick. It was a challenge for me, especially since I have never tried anything like it before. I needed a little help, so I watched this YouTube tutorial. This girl is great! You should definitely subscribe.
After watching, this is how it turned out for me…
I didn’t have false lashes, which really would have enhanced the look. It would be a great look if you wanted to be a 1960s icon for Halloween, or GoGo girl, Bond girl, etc. 😉 Let me know how it goes if you give the look a try!
I was on set at Daytime NBC in Tampa working as an assistant for etiquette coach, speaker and author, Patricia Rossi yesterday. We all went silent on the set as the host began to talk to someone for the next segment when I look over and it is Jeannie Mai on the screen. I was so delighted! Although I couldn’t hear the audio throughout the interview, her personality shined through. She was announcing her show “How Do I Look?” and her quest for the Worst Dressed in America. It will air on Monday, Oct. 17.
I’ve always loved watching the show on the Style Network because Jeannie really helps people find the best way to represent themselves. Not to mention, she has fabulous style herself.
Check out Jeannie’s blog for great style tips here.
The pumpkin spice latte is back at Starbucks, all of the pumpkin goodies are back at Dunkin’ Donuts and the Tampa Bay Rays got the AL Wild Card. Fall is here and I could only be happier if it would just cool down a little here in hot and sticky Florida. I’d love to be able to slip into some skinny jeans, boots and sweaters, but unfortunately all I can bear to wear right now are shorts and sandals still. I thought I’d compile a list of things that I wish I could be wearing (or could buy now!).
I’m loving jewel tones like emerald and burgundy right now.
